Online-platforms and services of computer-mediated communication (CMC)—Wikipedia, Facebook, chat rooms, or email—allow citizens from around the world to contact others, to share and co-create content. Millions of Kenya use these services on a daily basis to stay in touch with family and friends, to organize projects and campaigns. OutMost Media seeks to take advantage of its interactive affordances and connective qualities, to develope online-platforms for conflict prevention/ resolutions.

IMPROVING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS OF YOUNG PEOPLE

ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP POSSIBILITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION.

One of the greatest challenges facing agrarian Africa today is the conservation of the environment for agriculture which is the backbone of many economies in this continent. Agriculture is dependent on effective environmental conservation. Specifically, Agriculture contributes about 35% of the national incomes of Sub-Saharan countries

Importantly, agricultural production is primarily rain-fed and therefore, the amount of rainfall received is significant for agricultural production. Furthermore, the amount of rainfall is a factor of the quality of the environment. Therefore, a degraded environment, particularly depleted forest cover, adversely affects rainfall patterns and consequently agricultural contribution to the economy. Majority of those affected by this challenge are the youth since they form a significant proportion of human population. Despite being the majority, their level of participation in the development process in the society is still low

The youth lack skills, experience, and capital to fully engage in entrepreneurial activities. But given their numbers, their effective participation in entrepreneurial activities can effectively and sustainably enhance their contribution to the development process.

GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH

.

Kenya is experiencing difficult times, not only in maintaining a healthy environment on which to build its economy, but in other facets of life as well. The population, riddled with HIV/AIDS at increasing rates, is nevertheless still growing at an estimated 2.9 percent per year far faster than food production or the economy is growing. The under-five mortality rate for children on the decline for half a century until recently is steeply on the rise. By designing effective behavior change programs and providing links to services, we support individuals and communities in making informed decisions that improve their health and well-being. Our popular radio and TV dramas and chat shows, combined with mobile SMS/IVR, street theater performances, trainings, and outreach activities, provide vital education on HIV/AIDS, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation.
